Essential Job Duties:A temporary technician is needed in the months of June and July, which is the peak course season for the Analytical department, due to the temporary absence of a key team member. The increased workload that will occur during this time necessitates additional support to ensure operational continuity in the lab is maintained. The temp will be responsible for assisting on ongoing research projects, service requests and preparation for the upcoming courses.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
· Perform assays for analysis of biopharmaceuticals, including HPLC, electrophoresis, UV-vis, absorbance, fluorescence, and q/ddPCR · Generate detailed reports of acquired data and present to team in an organized manner.· Participate in analytical service projects and other research projects as assigned.· Create, revise, and maintain documents, including standard operating procedures, for BTEC’s analytical lab.· Support commissioning of new analytical equipment.· Maintain a detailed lab notebook.· Identify and report equipment issues and their root cause.· Ensure safety and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as outlined by the GMP-like philosophy.· Perform any other tasks/responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Work Schedule:Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, occasional early morning, nights and/or weekend work. Maximum of 29 hours per week.
Other Work/Responsibilities:Perform any other tasks/responsibilities assigned by supervisor that fall within the scope of this position.
Minimum Experience/Education:Minimum Experience/Education:
• B.S.* in engineering or life science (chemical engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, or related discipline).
*Required degree must be completed prior to start date.

- Ability to execute process steps using standard documentation (SOPs, protocols, etc.) and to follow established documentation practices.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Operational knowledge of analytical testing or development and the ability to transfer that knowledge to students and other BTEC staff.
- Ability to learn the operation of new analytical equipment and to run new processes.
- Knowledge of standard laboratory safety and biosafety practices.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and the MS Office suite, specifically MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint. Capable of easily learning/adapting to new computer software.
- Critical thinking, problem solving and quantitative abilities.
- Creative problem solver that can analyze datasets to foster new insights.
· Knowledge of theory as well as execution of biopharmaceutical assays such as plate-based assays, electrophoresis, U/HPLC, UV-vis absorbance, fluorescence, q/ddPCR· Experience with analysis of proteins, vaccines and/or nucleic acids.· Experience in creating, revising, and maintaining documents including standard operating procedures, records, forms, protocols and other relevant documentation.
