Job Description
The HOUSING COORDINATOR will be responsible for leading the agency’s functions related to enabling call handling specialist to deliver consistent quality service to residents of Los Angeles County with Winter Shelter related services, housing resources and additional appropriate referrals to meet their needs. The Housing Coordinator will continuously guide and instruct staff to ensure that the Winter Shelter-Augmented Winter Shelter program and projects achieve contract requirements.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Provide leadership, training, guidance, communication, coaching, instruction and professional development to staff providing information and referral on the 211 or Year Round Winter Shelter line.
- Regularly listen to recorded and live customer interactions to assess staff performance regarding professionalism, accuracy, and adherence to scripts and/or guidelines.
- Resolve issues arising from inquirers in a timely manner and/or assist and counsel staff regarding handling difficult or unusual calls and requests; advise staff regarding problems and complaints from clients.
- Conduct weekly or bi-weekly coaching sessions with each team member to target opportunities for performance improvement, resiliency and build morale.
- Develop and implement strategies to motivate statff and stimulate high sense of business ownership and urgency.
- Serve as the central point of contact for the coordination of the Winter Shelter Network activities; will arrange and coordinate meetings and training, and will prepare relevant materials and ensure the partnership is aware of upcoming scheduled events.
- Respond to the requests, requirements and needs of our funder LAHSA and others with a positive service attitude; builds appropriate, constructive and effective rapport.
- Maintain consistent, seamless ongoing communication between Program Manager, internal teams and program partners; and build strong relationships within the Winter Shelter Network.
- Work with Workforce Management Specialist to ensure staff is properly scheduled and ensure individuals and teams adhere to the schedule.
- Check deadlines on incoming requests/ contractual requirements and proactively take action as needed.
- Keep an updated case status tracking sheet that is readily available for reporting purposes. ● Maintain accurate data regarding participating providers and vendors.
- Perform other duties and assignments in accordance with established Agency mission and values.

- One or more years experience in human services or information and referral resource work.
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or substantially equivalent experience.
- Effective and comprehensive computer skills (including Microsoft Office Suite, Google platforms such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Meets, Adobe, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams); the ability to use or adapt to new computer software, equipment, and/or hardware.
- Organized, detail oriented and extremely thorough while having the confidence and communication skills to ensure work processes are completed accurately and appropriately.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities/tasks concurrently and demonstrate initiative in completing projects.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to remain open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to be effective in a fast paced and regularly changing environment.
- Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and/or negative situations and demonstrated group presentation skills.

- Availability at short notice for undetermined schedule as required to respond to a statewide or county level hate related incident or crime requiring an emergency response in the event of an unforeseen emergency.
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting; excel in working remotely without work space distractions.
- Ability to accept new challenges and changes as the program grows; sustain effectiveness in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to travel as needed to achieve Agency objectives
- Ability to type 45-50 wpm with 90% accuracy.
- Current and valid driver’s license and proof of insurance if using a vehicle on official Agency business.
- Willingness to perform any and all responsibilities needed to ensure success in this role and success of the Winter Shelter program and inclusively the Agency.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.

$66,560

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
As a 211 LA County HOUSING COORDINATOR, you will regularly be required to work remotely in a dedicated workspace or desk and work at a computer for extended periods of time. The employee is regularly required to work in an indoor climate-controlled environment with moderate noise levels. The employee is occasionally required to: stand; lift and/or move up to 10 pounds unassisted; drive to locations to attend meetings.
ANALYTICAL/REASONING REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to evaluate and resolve problems involving multiple variables in complex situations. Requires excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with internal and external customers. Ability to manage high levels of stress; possess well-proven time management skills allowing movement from one task to another on a moment’s notice, and still complete projects on time.
