This position is located in the Division of Professional Services at the Fort Yuma Service Unit, Winterhaven, CA. The Telephone Operator is customer service-focused and serves as the general swithboard operator for the facility. This position reports to the Director of Professional Services.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-3: Your resume must demonstrate at least six (6) months of general experience equivalent to at least the GS-2 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. OR
Education: Completed 1 year above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. Transcripts must be submitted with application. OR
Combination of education and experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Total qualifying experience and total education will be determined as a percentage. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Transcripts must be submitted with application.
GS-4: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience equivalent to at least the GS-3 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. OR
Education: Completed 2 years above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. Transcripts must be submitted with application.Two year of full-time academic study is defined as 60 semester hours, 90 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 72 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR
Combination of education and experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Total qualifying experience and total education will be determined as a percentage. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Transcripts must be submitted with application.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
