Telephone Operator - Telecommunication - PBX II

We are seeking a skilled and attentive PBX Operator to join our team. As a PBX Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient and professional communication for St. John's Regional Medical Center. You will be responsible for handling incoming and outgoing calls, directing calls to the appropriate departments or individuals, and providing excellent customer service.
- Answer Main PBX Switchboard, correctly routing all external and internal calls.
- Perform all Emergency code notifications, following established policies and procedures.
- Perform all Voice, overhead paging.
- Perform all urgent radio pages upon request using in house beeper system.
- Assist any and all Customers with any questions related to hospital Telephone service.
- Assist Telecommunications Supervisor maintaining in house Telephone Directory.
- Assist in any urgent patient room phone repair/replacement.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Two years on-the-job related experience with automated telecommunications equipment and PC operations required.
- Experience preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Supervisory experience helpful.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly concisely and accurately.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to maintain composure in stressful situations and handle multiple tasks at the same time.
- Ability to prioritize responses in emergency situations. Able to maintain confidentiality of issues and materials designed as such.
- Ability to provide supervision of Operator I's.
- Basic knowledge of general concepts and vocabulary of computer systems and operating principles of PC's to in-house systems.
- Excellent customer service skills.
