We Are Brookfield Properties:
We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join the Brookfield Properties U.S. Office Division in New York, NY as a Summer Technical Production Intern on the Arts & Culture team. Our intern program lasts 10 weeks and includes many exciting training and development opportunities.
This individual will assist the Technical Director and Technical Manager on Arts & Culture projects, performances, installations, and activations to ensure that all Technical Production equipment, personnel and systems are in place, operational, and safe. They will work with the Arts & Cultures production, producing, and marketing departments as well as operations and building staff to execute arts programming and support third-party events at Brookfield Place and Manhattan West.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Under supervision of the Technical Director, assist in the setup, maintenance, and inspection of technical events systems including but not limited to audio, lighting, video, show control, power distribution, rigging, and staging.
- Ensure that Arts & Events technical equipment, accessories, and tools are clean, available, operational, inventoried, and safe.
- Work alongside stagehands, loaders, riggers, and technicians to assist in setting up and running events.
- Ensure the safety of the public by working with security to ensure safe routing of pedestrian traffic during all installations.
- Participate in pre-production and attend production meetings and site surveys as required.
- Assist with generating ground plans for installations and events at Brookfield properties as assigned by the Technical Director.
- Work with the TD and Technical Supervisor to maintain digital organization of all paperwork and show files.
- Perform manual labor as necessary including lifting and moving equipment up to 50lbs.
- Participate in system upgrade projects and research/demo new equipment and technology under supervision of the Technical Director.
- Purchase and inventory hardware, technical equipment, and production supplies as requested by the Technical Director.
- Assist Arts & Events marketing team with construction and maintenance of signage units.
- Protect building surfaces and systems from unnecessary or excessive wear.
Your Qualifications:
- Rising junior or senior
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- A desire to learn and collaborate with the rest of the Arts & Events team.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism appropriate for a corporate environment.
- Production experience and a desire to work on a variety of live events including concerts, stage performances, experiential activations, and temporary installations.
- Prioritize safety above all else, and are committed to doing the work correctly, not quickly.
- Practical knowledge of basic hand tools and their safe use.
- Working knowledge of or willingness to learn show control, routing, and comms systems such as Yamaha CL series, QLab, Clear Com, ETC EOS, Dante, and QSC Q-Sys.
- Some drafting experience in AutoCAD or a similar program would be a plus!
- Willing to work early mornings, late nights, overnights, and weekends as required by the programming schedule (will not exceed 40hrs/week).
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Type: Non-exempt
Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly
Annual Base Salary Range: $25/Hour
