We are excited to add a Technical Designer to our growing organization! As the Technical Designer you will work alongside company stakeholders to ensure LB’s product line meets the high quality standard of Little Bipsy’s brand. In this role, your exemplary creative skills will carry forward products that exceed customer expectation and furthers the mission of Little Bipsy.
The Technical Designer reports to the Director, Product Development. This position is full-time, on-site at our Everett, WA location.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the fitting of all samples from 1st prototype through final production approval. Develops standard fit specifications within each category and/or product group to ensure consistency throughout product lines.
- Knowledge of pattern-making, garment construction, sewing techniques, textiles.
- Provides pattern making and fitting expertise to the design and development process.
- Reviews and fits samples on models – provide fit recommendations to Design, Development, and Marketing teams.
- Coordinates fit sessions including but not limited to model selection, scheduling, and model management.
- Provides technical recommendations to create consistency of fit/construction and to help achieve design concepts and category initiatives.
- Anticipates pattern development issues and advise alternative solutions.
- Applies knowledge of grading, fabrics, fit and costing.
- Communicate design concept to generate a 2-D pattern that incorporates proportional lines, fit requirements and construction feasibility.
- Maintains construction standards for use in manufacturing.
- Ensures consistent and organized development documentation is maintained for assigned styles; tech pack, fit approval rates, and sample tracking reports.
- Audits and comments on prototypes.
- Creates and updates visual representation of styles in line drawing format.
- Creates detailed construction drawing as needed to communicate design details and construction to factories and team members.
- Creates and maintains tech packs.
- Effectively communicates technical design specifications and modifications to category team members and vendors.
- Track all sample approvals for final bulk approval.
Global Communications – Overseas Locations and Direct Suppliers
- Communicate precisely with overseas branches and/or direct suppliers on all technical issues to ensure clear understanding of garment fit and constructions.
- Manage communication with suppliers related to sample development and fit approval.
- Work closely with the suppliers to meet the crucial deadlines by providing technical expertise and expedite sample approval process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Apparel/Textile design or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in technical design.
- Advanced level in computer skills including Excel, Adobe, and Illustrator.
- Expert with digital pattern-making programs, Gerber Accumark pattern system preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of garment construction, material construction and properties, and pattern-making.
- Detailed understanding of the design and development process from inception through production.
- Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions.
- Knowledge of garment fit and the ability to give instructions on necessary changes to a pattern to influence the fit.
- Strong information seeking and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to communicate written and verbal information clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group.
Compensation
The annual salary in the Everett, WA area for this position is $72,000 - $89,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
