Job Summary:
The Teacher Assistant works with the classroom teacher in all aspects of the classroom environment. The Teacher Assistant position may be assigned to a particular classroom, or work within several different classrooms helping students.
This Teacher Assistant position is at the Age to Age classroom located at Medicallodges on 1st Street in Coffeyville.
Essential Functions:
- Work in groups of students or with individual students under the direction of the classroom teacher or principal.
- Data recording and collection, skill building support, and working with multidisciplinary teams is required.
- Assist classroom teacher with classroom management and organization.
- Academic tutoring and instruction of students under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Supervise students during meals, assemblies and assigned activities.
- Other duties as assigned by the building administrator or classroom teacher.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of written and oral language skills.
- Work knowledge of math concepts.
- Ability to supervise students in a professional manner.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university or 48 college credit hours or pass the State Para-Educator test
- Ability to pass a background check
- Pass a TB skin test and physical
- Valid driver's license or state issued ID

- Position is considered full-time with the school district
- Hours follow the school calendar
- District benefits eligible
- The position is 8 hours per day with 15 mintues before school, 15 mintues after school and 30 mintues while the students are eating lunch
Reports to: Building Principal or Building Assistant Principal
Equipment Used:
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments, sometimes noisy rooms and quite spaces. Periods of longer time standing or sitting. Playground and recess monitoring is generally outside and subject to various weather conditions.
