CACI is seeking a Senior-level Systems/Simulator Engineer to support the Simulator Common Architecture Requirements and Standards (SCARS) effort as part of the AFMS3 2.0 Program at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The U.S. Air Force uses high-end simulators to maintain combat crew mission readiness. The SCARS initiative is creating a common architecture for 40 unique simulator baselines to provide streamlined cyber-hardening, affordable upgrades that stay current with the fielded weapon systems, and simplified introduction of new technologies through a robust and well-defined common system architecture.
More About the Role:
As a SCARS Engineer, you will:

  • Update the SCARS Engineering Capabilities Board (SECB) processes. Draft plans and procedures that govern interim SCARS processes. Conduct regular SECB meetings by generating notices, agendas, action item status, and by creating and distributing minutes. Support the Government SECB Chairperson in all SECB-sanctioned and directed activities as required.
  • Support technical management activities in execution of SCARS requirements and SECB directives.
  • Define and coordinate the technical scope for individual SCARS initiatives through RFP-ready documents and support all acquisition activities as directed by the Government.
  • Coordinate SCARS initiatives within the simulation and Open Architecture industries. Organize and conduct working groups, collaboration activities, and potential industry engagements to communicate, promote, and evolve SCARS initiatives and concepts.
  • Establish an Air Force SCARS "presence" within the simulation community through regular interactions with the other Uniformed Services, industry, and academia.
  • Coordinate on AFRL activities such as Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) projects to advance SCARS technologies.
  • Examine program cost, schedule, and performance of training systems and supporting functions and provide analysis, assessments, and recommendations.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience: Bachelors' degree and eighteen (18) years of related experience, or a Master's degree and ten (10) years' experience, or a PhD and two (2) years' experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop networks and alliances and collaborate across boundaries with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of the operational practices of the Modeling & Simulation Community.
  • Collaborative skills working with other software and hardware engineers understanding their analytic and interface requirements.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and incorporate new technical information at rapid pace for practical use.
  • Comfortable using standard Windows and Office tools.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with Air Force simulation platforms and Air Force/DOD acquisition programs.
  • 5 years or more DOD experience.
  • Working knowledge of DoD and AF Assessment and Authorization policies.
  • Understanding of NIST SP-800 series Risk Management Framework.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work with changing requirements as developed and communicated from customer feedback.
  • Eagerness to improve efficiency and streamline work procedures.
