Systems Specialist

Core Responsibilities

• Leads and coordinates project activities and routine application support with stakeholders in IT and the business.
• As the application support lead, provides guidance to ensure successful production releases aligning with vendors and business stakeholders.
• Oversees the design and implementation and overall architecture of the OMS (Outage Management Systems) and associated applications.
• Works with the IT OMS and Integration partner teams to implement a robust set of services.
• Identifies business requirements and creates a plan of action.
• Works with the OMS, broader IT team, and business users to optimize the application for maximum speed and scalability.
• Coordinates with the vendors, system integrators, product designers and architects to translate requirements into technology solutions.
• Leads integration of front-end and back-end aspects of the application.
• Act as the requirements governance lead coordinating with the Distribution Control Center and other business stakeholders through the planning and implementation process
• Plan and provide Steering committee updates for qualifying projects.
• Provide training and demonstration to OMS users as required.
• Provide OMS storm and weather event support services. Serve as the OMS Unit leader on rotation.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental policies, EEO, Standards of Business Conduct, and all other applicable company policy and procedures.

Required Education/Experience

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math/Science, or Engineering and (2) years of IT experience or Working experience in supporting IT infrastructure of a large user base, focused on Software engineering or
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math/Science, or Engineering and (3) years of IT experience or Working experience in supporting IT infrastructure of a large user base, focused on Software engineering or
• Associate's Degree and (5) years of IT experience or Working experience in supporting IT infrastructure of a large user base, focused on Software engineering or
• High School Diploma/GED and (7) years of IT experience or Working experience in supporting IT infrastructure of a large user base, focused on Software engineering

Relevant Work Experience

• Ability to learn new technology as required for the job using documentation and other available resources. Required
• Ability to write and optimize database queries using SQL to extract and manipulate data efficiently. Required
• Experience of leadership and hands-on project management. Required
• Ability to lead team activities, perform project management functions and deliver complex and critical projects. Required
• Advanced experience with MS Office in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Visio, MS Project). Required
• Anticipate, identify and manage resolutions of critical obstacles. Required
• Ability to act as a coach and mentor for assigned team members with the ability to transfer knowledge to various audiences. Required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Required
• Flexibility to work on multiple assignments with changing priorities and stay on schedule/on budget. Required
• Ability to present at different levels of management. Required
• Experience in troubleshooting data flow components and applications to ensure seamless operation. Required
• Knowledge of programming/scripting experience using (PowerShell, Python, Perl, Bash, etc.). Preferred
• Experience in evaluating and assessing technology architecture components for optimal performance. Preferred

• Must sit or stand to answer a phone for entire shift

• Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
