Function of Job: Under minimal supervision, provide installation, maintenance, and technical support for enterprise systems and complex servers. Manage, install, configure, and support applications, servers, users, and specialized computer systems for departmental operations. Direct the work of department system support personnel.
Characteristic Work:
- Install, monitor, and maintain servers and network environments, including user setup, hardware/software upgrades.
- Manage a multitude of complex servers, including application, web, and database servers.
- Administer all servers, configuring, optimizing, managing user accounts, and ensuring security.
- Offer technical guidance on software and hardware evaluations for departments.
- Provide technical advice on complex projects spanning multiple servers and networks.
- Develop and enforce change control procedures for software releases.
- Stay abreast of operating systems, software, and networking for stable production platforms. Provide technical leadership and mentorship.
- Troubleshoot intricate server and network printing issues.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend hardware and software solutions. Propose innovative technology implementations.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve server and network issues for client-server applications.
- Possibly supervise and train support personnel. Offer departmental support training.
- Coordinate with Information Services peers for consistent technology application.
- Provide on-call support for timely production problem resolution.
- Engage in industry publications and training to enhance technical knowledge.
- Perform related duties as necessary.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
- Five years of experience in a LAN environment or equivalent education/experience.
- Proficiency in Windows servers, web servers, and database servers.
- Strong verbal and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a team.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Microsoft SQL server experience.
- Microsoft certifications.
