Information Technology Senior Systems Administrator
Note: This is an on-site position, located at our corporate office in Greenville, NC, not a remote position.
Job Summary:
Install, configure, and upgrade server and PC systems and software. Lead IT projects as assigned.
Major Job Functions:
- Install, assemble and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; pull cables and rewire or direct the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfigurations.
- Install, assemble and configure computers,
- Troubleshoot problems with server and PC computer systems, including e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; make repairs and corrections where required.
- Act as technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; assume responsibility for a centralized help desk.
- Make hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.
- Assist in instructing staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management; provide instruction and written documentation where required.
- Assist with planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintain current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.
- Ensures all hardware and software problems/issues and facility problems are logged via help desk tickets and resolved in a timely manner.
- Monitor and initiate all scheduled backup jobs and insure successful execution.
- Perform file restores.
- Un-racking and racking of equipment.
- Deploy and maintain end user workstations.
- Monitor and maintain corporate network.
- Monitor all facility related equipment and assist with PM’s (Preventive Maintenance).
- Recommend improvements based on working knowledge of the operational environment.
- Schedule and/or perform all special work requests/tasks and change control events (turnovers).
Specifications:
Education: Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent
Experience: Good knowledge of computer, server, monitoring, and network systems. 5+ years of relevant IT experience
Special Training / Skills: Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Must be able to make sound judgements and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of the employees and knowledge of practice policies and procedures. Good communication skills and discretion with confidential information required.
