DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The System Administrator 2 is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. They install hardware and software and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of their organization. System administrators also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Responsible for the maintenance and configuration of Hyper-V and VMWare servers
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage Windows virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementation of new systems or upgrades to existing systems
- Research, recommend, install, configure, upgrade, and administer hardware and software (Server, Storage, Client) to achieve operational requirements and project specifications.
- Constantly monitor and assess systems to make sure that processes are operating as designed.
- Troubleshoot errors and fix system issues via periodic testing, help desk tickets, and other methods.
- Act as a technical resource during other projects as required.
- Ensure data integrity across the enterprise.
- Manage user accounts, creating, updating, and removing access as necessary.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Back-up and mentor the system administrator 1 role
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
- 3-5 years system administration experience
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 2012/2016/2019 Server administration.
- Preferred experience with Microsoft technologies such as RemoteApp, SQL Server Administration, Office 365, and Power Shell
- Working knowledge of virtualization
- Experience in VMWare, Citrix, or Linux is a plus
- MCP in Windows 2012 Server or above.
- Ability to read, write, and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate effectively and calmly with physicians, employees, vendors, and other medical personnel. Constitutional disposition capable of remaining productive for extended periods of time during problem resolution and new systems implementation.
- Must possess a high level of patience and tenacity; Capable of rapid problem identification and resolution; Capable of clear and succinct verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be adaptable to change and receptive to delegated responsibilities.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Capable of performing light to medium duty physical tasks.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
- Must be free of all communicable disease and be up to date on immunizations.
