Leidos currently has an opening for a Lead System Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) drive Department-wide business reform by integrating transportation and financial processes at the transaction level to optimize financial management of the Transportation of Things that support the Department of Defense financial auditability requirements and closing identified auditability gaps. USTRANSCOM is seeking a multifaceted solution consisting of Doctrine, Organization, Training, Material, Leadership and Education, Personnel, and Facilities and Policy changes as well as the implementation of a commercial-off-the-shelf Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution across the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE).
Primary Responsibilities
The candidate must have demonstrated performance as a Lead System Engineer, developing or implementing information systems with a broad experience base across the entire project lifecycle. As a Lead System Engineer, you will provide critical thought leadership and direction to push the limits of system design and innovation in support of stakeholder requirements. You will be responsible for translating complex problems into elegant solutions and shaping business technology strategies. This role will architect and implement cutting edge technology solutions, mentor engineers and will act as an evangelist in technology architectures and ways of working. With a focus on providing senior technical leadership, this role will be a key influencer of Leidos’ next-generation of microservices, application program interfaces (API), data, and cloud computing technology platforms. The lead System Engineer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead technical projects with a range of development teams to architect, build, design, and scale next-generation technology platforms.
- Influence and establish best engineering practices through solid design decisions, processes, and tools.
- Set goals, strategies, and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple technologies.
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of software engineering, cloud technologies and data engineering to define target architectures, patterns, and processes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring of engineering teams, working closely with architects and business leaders.
- Lead tool and technology selection. Drive standardization and reuse of industry leading technology across the organization.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in management information systems, Computer Science/Engineering, systems engineering or related field.
- 10 years relevant experience in leading technical functions for large, complex information technology systems.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms (or equivalent Freight Management System (FMS)/Transport Management System (TMS).
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated performance as a Systems Engineer/Architect, developing or implementing information systems with a broad experience base across the entire project lifecycle.
- Demonstrated capacity to understand and communicate technical ideas, concepts, and thoughts across multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently determine and develop approach to solutions.
- Experience/familiarity with DoD Instruction 5000.88, Engineering of Defense Systems, and DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditations.
- Extensive experience obtaining and maintaining DoD Risk Management Framework Accreditation
- Integration experience with programs of similar scope.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
