Optex Systems started in 1987 with a team of optical and mechanical engineers who have since earned a reputation for delivering the most reliable and high-quality systems available while reducing the total cost of ownership.
Optex/Applied Optics Center (AOC) products are delivered through prime contractors, direct government buyers, and are installed on a variety of military vehicles both land and sea. These products have earned a reputation for world-class field performance. Additionally, we are expanding and making our products available to the commercial sector.
A. JOB TASKS
* Evaluates manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
* Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
* Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
* Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards and procedures.
* Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
* Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
* Assists in the bid process.
* Provides Manufacturing Engineering information by answering questions and requests from vendors, customers and team members.
* Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
* Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
* Improves development evaluations by introducing new and improved analytical techniques and models.
* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing.
*Complies with ISO 9001 system and other regulatory requirements for Optex Systems/AOC.
*Adheres to all safety procedures, rules and regulations.
B. Optical test and measurement equipment: autocollimator, theodolite, energy meter.
Mechanical measurement equipment: calipers, micrometers, height stand, comparator
C. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
SPECIALIZED TRAINING
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
· Computer literate.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Outlook
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
EXPERIENCE
· A minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Experience in ISO 9000 procedures.
· Must be familiar with various measuring devices and analyzing information.
· Experience with Mil Specs and drawings.
· Optical experience desired.
