SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
IT SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION - ENTRY

Director's Office - Information Technology Services

Are you an IT professional experienced in mobile device management administration and support, Active Directory administration, and policy/procedural maintenance?
This position will also provide support for Exchange Email/Outlook issues and other Infrastructure Services including SharePoint, M365, Box, communication and collaboration software.

In this dynamic role, you will provide Tier 3 support assisting customers in registering Agency and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) mobile devices in the MDM System.
With your experience, you will assist in developing knowledge base self-help documentation for end users as well as Tier 1 Support.
Duties
Here is some of what you will be doing:
Mobile Device Management (MDM) Administration and Support:
  • Provide Tier 3 operational maintenance, troubleshoot and assist customers with technical issues with Agency and BYOD devices using a "best effort" model of support.
  • Provide Tier 3 support using established procedure to procure devices and lines of service and other support related to mobile device service delivery (eg. Change mobile features, upgrades, etc.).
  • Provide Tier 3 services maintaining the Cell Phone Billing System.
  • Retire inactive devices, ensuring out of compliance devices are surplussed and removed from MDM and Apple Business Manager in accordance with State and Agency regulatory requirements at end of life.

Active Directory Administration:
  • Assist in managing Active Directory File Server File Role Bases Access Control (RBAC) system rights of folder & file security of the enterprise file system.
  • Assist in monitoring, creating, deleting, and managing user account creation and termination services performed by the WDFW Service Desk.
  • Assist in monitoring, creating, deleting, and managing security group services performed by the WDFW Service Desk.

Policy, Procedure, and Training Administration:
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of ITS systems administration policy and procedures.
  • Ensure enforcement of Agency Policy and Procedures as it relates to applicable areas of responsibility.
  • Create training materials and documentation for customers and IT staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work Setting, including hazards:
    • Office setting.
    • May require work in small difficult to access areas.
  • Schedule:
    • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 pm.
    • Hours may be adjusted at the discretion of the supervisor.
    • Occasional off hours work may be required.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Travel to NRB and Region 5 - Ridgefield to support mobile devices.
  • Tools and Equipment:
    • Hand Tools, Computers, Mobile Devices, Cabling.
  • Customer Interactions:
    • Deal directly with end user support staff, WDFW employees and External Vendors.

  • Qualifications
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • AA degree in an IT related field and one (1) or more years of recent (within the last 4 years) experience working as System Administrator in a medium to large organization.
    Or
    • Three (3) years of recent IT experience (within the last 5 years) working and trouble-shooting Mobile Devices, Mobile Device Management System, Exchange, Active Directory/Azure Active Directory, and/or M365 Environment.

    Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
    • Undergo a background check, which will include fingerprinting.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Experience in Apple mobile device hardware and software support.
    • Experience in Intune Mobile Device Management System.
    • Experience working in Microsoft 365 environment.
    • Basic Active Directory/Azure Active Directory (AD/AAD), network troubleshooting skills, knowledgeable in network security.
    • Experience with Multifactor Authentication Administration.

    Insurance Benefits

    Retirement and Deferred Compensation
    State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs. For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
    Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).     Social Security
    All state employees are covered by the federal Social Security and Medicare systems. The state and the employee pay an equal amount into the system.
    Public Service Loan Forgiveness

    Holidays
    Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.
    Note: Employees who are members of certain Unions may be entitled to additional personal leave day(s), please refer to position specific Collective Bargaining Agreements for more information.
    Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday.
    Part-time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro-rata basis. Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Pay status includes hours worked and time on paid leave.
