Overview:
United Site Services (“USS”), a leading provider of portable sanitation rental services in the United States is looking to appoint a new Sr Vice President of Major Events to rapidly drive growth in the Events business unit by securing new and existing clients, winning back lost clients, and establishing larger “enterprise” agreements with national event production business across the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a newly formed event division in a private equity-backed, market-leading commercial services business with a diversified platform in an industry with significant growth opportunity.
Responsibilities:
Financial: Build and achieve Revenue and EBITDA targets.
  • Create deep market awareness, stay in touch with market trends in order to execute prioritized campaigns on events throughout the United States.
  • Establish enterprise-level agreements with largest event facilitators, review current accounts and execute multi-year contracts.
  • Working with Finance to establish a P&L and improve customer experience with clarity on billing collections and improving payment terms.
Commercial: Recapture Sales and Successfully Complete Focused Sales Plan to Hit Targets
  • Review and refine the commercial approach of the events business, driving clear improvements to salesforce effectiveness with clear KPI’s and incentives.
  • Develop a prioritized list of Events venue/agencies and opportunities creating a view of key growth levers available.
  • Develop immediate insights with a sustainability plan for company to understand target pricing by area/event/ opportunity.
  • Partner with Finance/Ops/Fleet to develop Events asset register and utilization.
Organization, Culture & Team: Define and design the organization structure for the events business.
  • Evaluate existing Sales and Operations structure that is supporting Events business, and collaborate with HR on what is required to support financial growth targets.
  • Instill an “ownership” culture that embraces collaboration, change, commercial courage and transparency with the intent of creating a pro-active, energetic and strategic high-performance team.
Execution and M&A
  • Partner with Operations and Regions to determine staffing levels and locations to support events growth. Create a labor model that successfully executes the event on time and within budget.
  • Once events business is stabilized, opportunistically pursue and integrate accretive add-on acquisitions to gain scale and move into adjacent product areas and geographies.
Manage Stakeholders and Create Culture of Accountability
  • Effectively partners with corporate resources and customer center resources to accomplish business objectives and drive functional initiatives.
  • Accountable for the development of overall business strategy and creating alignment for each role in the Events Team to contribute to organization’s success.
  • Sets high standards, establishes clear objectives and holds team accountable for performance.
Qualifications:
What makes you qualified:
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience as a successful P&L owner with a demonstrable track record of value creation in a business of similar or greater size and complexity than USS.
  • Proven track record of generating growth via go to market, commercial strategy, customer delivery, sales team optimization or operational improvements.
  • Ability to travel extensively 50% or more
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strong results. Energized by new challenges and opportunities to achieve the highest possible levels of performance, and to bring structure to ambiguous situations.
  • Proven, deep understand of complex operations and industry dynamics, ability to translate strategy into functional priorities, be flexible, and balance short and long-term objectives in ensuring execution through individual and team accountability.
  • Ability to work with cross functional leadership teams in Sales, Operations, HR and Finance.
  • Operations understanding in a customer focused operations type industry, where efficiency and customer experience are key to success.
  • Relevant industry knowledge in event services and/or, route-based services.
  • Proven capabilities identifying talent, building teams, working in environments where process maturity is evolving and accountability and continuous improvement are required.
