JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant/Scheduler in each operating center are responsible for implementing the patient care policies, practices and techniques as well as the management of the electronic medical record and billing system established by the Company within their own area of supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following description of job responsibilities and standards is intended to reflect the major responsibilities and duties of the job, but is not intended to describe minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
1. Will have clear understanding of patient monitoring, monitoring equipment and emergency equipment.
2. Will have a clear understanding of aseptic technique and universal precautions.
3. Will be able to care for all patients appropriately according to their patient population meeting their physical, safety and psychosocial needs.
4. Will use radiation protection measures in accordance with Center protocols
5. Will be able to obtain a medical history and document appropriately in the EMR.
6. Will utilize their BLS training to assist in a patient care emergency including performing CPR and airway management.
7. Will be able to arrange transportation for the patient and assist with their physical needs.
8. Will be able to take an allergy history to evaluate risk factors that contra-indicate the use of intravenous contrast material.
9. Will be able to identify early signs of contrast media reactions.
10. Will be able to administer oxygen in a safe and proper manner including all aspects of patient care, evaluation and complications management.
11. Will be able to have an understanding of oxygen therapy, manage an airway for resuscitation and manage all available forms of oxygen delivery devices.
12. Will be able to maintain all forms of Point of Care Testing equipment and the ability to perform testing and/or quality control procedures.
13. Will be able to operate and troubleshoot the pulsometer, maintain the Non-Invasive
Blood Pressure unit, Defibrillator/Cardiac Monitor and the ability to perform monitoring and/or quality control procedures.
14. Will have clear understanding of insurance verification
15. Will be able to obtain a pre-certification and get the required authorizations and referrals.
16. Will be able to update the computer system to reflect insurance information for proper billing.
17. Will be able to schedule patients and obtain pertinent information from primary physicians.
18. Will be able to prepare correct chart packs and scan them into the EMR and properly document and complete consults and charting per patient.
19. Will be able to prepare and send all appropriate information to the billing company.
20. Will be able to have a clear understanding of the registration process.
21. Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
