We are seeking an experienced full-time Medical Assistant to serve as Surgery Scheduler/MA for a busy dermatology office. Must have 1 year work experience in the healthcare field. Experience EMA (EMR) and dermatology is a plus. Work schedule is 7am - 530pm Monday - Thursday (4, 10-hr. shifts) with every Friday off and 150 hours of paid vacation.
Main job duties include the following:
- Calling pts to deliver pathology findings, explain diagnosis and treatment options, and scheduling surgeries
- Updating pts medical hx with new cancer diagnoses
- Monitoring and completing pathologies in pathology log daily
- Answering phones, receiving, processing, and sending referrals, getting pre-authorizations for surgery
- Sending D&D certified letters to patients
- Monitoring MIPS (CMS requirement) throughout the year
Other job responsibilities include serving as MA back up when primary staff are out, which includes the following:
- Greeting patients, taking medical histories and accurately entering data in EMR
- Preparing patients for medical examinations by physician
- Assisting physician during examination and surgeries
- Instructing patients in pre-op and post- op care
- Remove sutures and provide wound care
- Sterilizing medical instruments
- Restocking of exam rooms and lab
- Cleaning exam rooms and labs
Applicant must have a positive attitude, be a team player, be reliable, and have adequate to strong office skills, including familiarity with hardware and software of both desktop computers and IPads.
