About Missouri Parents Act (MPACT): Missouri Parents Act (MPACT) is the Parent Training & Information Center (PTI) in Missouri, operating as a non-profit organization since 1988. Our mission is to empower families to advocate for themselves, ensuring children with special education needs achieve their full potential in education and life. Position Summary: The Regional Coordinator at MPACT plays a pivotal role in supporting Missouri families, youth, and professionals as they navigate the special education process. This position involves providing one-to-one support, leading training and workshops, and fostering partnerships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders to enhance MPACT’s impact and reach.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support families and youth in effective advocacy to enhance student and youth outcomes.
- Conduct in-person and virtual training and workshops on various special education topics for parents, youth, and professionals.
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with community agencies, educators, youth, and families to assist youth transitioning from high school to adult life.
- Engage in collaborative problem-solving, conflict resolution, and de-escalation strategies with families, educators, and colleagues.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and special education legal procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences, including interpersonal, writing, group facilitation, and public speaking.
- Proficiency in customer service and call management.
- Tech-savvy with experience in online research, information dissemination, social media use, online training, and competence with Word, Excel, and database management.
- Ability to manage and prioritize high-intensity, time-sensitive tasks effectively.
Qualifications:
- Must reside in Missouri within the region of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or related field, OR at least two years of experience in social work, education, or related organizations.
Compensation:
- Hourly pay range: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience.
- Opportunity for retention bonuses.
