Department Overview
The Supply Chain Organization includes a staff of more than 500 sourcing managers, buyers, analysts, materials planners, quality/strategy and warehouse personnel, along with a Supply Chain responsibility team. The Supply Chain Responsibility (SCR) team’s mission is to deliver cost-effective and strategic Supply Chain services through ethical, sustainable and diverse business solutions. Program goals include working with internal stakeholders and suppliers to facilitate responsible purchasing. Our work requires close integration with all functional areas including operations, Supply Chain, finance and law.

Job Summary:
PG&E is committed to becoming climate positive by 2050 by reducing and removing more greenhouse gases than we emit and by enabling our customers and hometowns to shrink their carbon footprint. This position will contribute to corporate sustainability goals by working cross functionally to build alignment to improve sustainable purchasing. One of the goals of this position is to help suppliers measure environmental impacts, set and achieve carbon neutrality and manage Supply Chain risks. This position will be instrumental in establishing methods, processes and procedures to prepare suppliers to establish environmental management systems, evaluate energy plans, reduce and report GHG emissions among other environmental impacts.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $ 132,000
Bay Area Maximum: $226,000
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and based on business needs.
Job Description:
- Creates and drives strategic initiatives and influences organizational change on key emerging sustainability issues in the Supply Chain.
- Leads annual sustainability goals setting and executes PG&E’s Supply Chain Environmental Sustainability Roadmap.
- Engages with external benchmarking organizations like the Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance to draw data and develop strategies to improve sustainability efforts.
- Supports the successful implementation of PG&E’s external Sustainability Advisory Council to guide and strengthen PG&E’s sustainability strategy.
- Leads activities and events that engage and educate purchasing decision-makers, suppliers, and coworkers in Supply Chain environmental sustainability topics.
- Identifies key projects with opportunities to reduce environmental impacts throughout Supply Chain and operations; consults with stakeholders to implement best practices.
- Presents on the status of Supply Chain environmental sustainability progress at executive level meetings.
- Responds to internal and external data requests regarding PG&E’s Supply Chain environmental sustainability goals, standards and procedures.
- Conducts and facilitates training to educate suppliers on PG&E’s sustainability goals and expectations for GHG reporting.
- Promotes small and diverse businesses participation in the Supply Chain and supports their knowledge and ability to report GHG emissions.
- Helps to evaluate the sustainability questionnaire in RFPs and supports the implementation of the successful bidders’ environmental reduction targets where feasible.
Minimum Requirements:
- 8 years of experience working in Supply Chain, consulting or other related discipline(s)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Desired
- 8 years of experience in business management, supplier engagement, environmental sustainability, and/or market research or consulting
- Expert project management skills
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Six Sigma, Agile, CPSM, or other related certification
- Mastery of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong written communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, a team focus and the ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with environmental sustainability standards/programs such as: GHG Protocol, Science Based Target Initiative, CDP, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.
