About the Role:
Reporting to the Senior Director- Supply Chain Strategy & Capabilities, the Supply Chain Automation Engineer role is responsible for evaluating current opportunities and benefits automation can provide in our future Supply Chain facilities. This position is also responsible for sourcing, developing, testing, and driving solutions to ensure functional designs, rate targets & specification flows are achieved. Will deliver financial justification and design options for future automation solutions. Responsible for working with cross functional teams to develop, and implement projects to reduce costs and improve business profitability.
This role is highly cross functional, building effective partnership & strong communication are key for success in this role with both internal and external partners. Attention to detail, strong cross functional collaboration and project management skills are critical. This role will support an aggressive Supply Chain expansion strategy for a large fast growing unique grocery model.
Responsibilities Include:
· Performs automation work for multiple functional projects and/or a large capital project.
· Designs and manages process equipment/control systems reliability improvements, optimization, and upgrades as well as implementation of new equipment control systems from the concept to commissioning and validation.
· Promotes the usage of automation solutions. Conducts cost-benefit analyses of solutions. Monitors actual rates versus expected rates. Provides automation business justification to implement long-range automation plans.
· Works with suppliers/vendors to produce proposals, coordinate quotes and reviews for approval.
· Provides hands-on technical support, diagnostics and troubleshooting functions to automation & controls system operations.
· Validate all automation design specifications are followed, and all expected throughput rates are achieved.
· Work with equipment designers and manufacturing to validate quality manufacturing of solutions, understands system and controls dependencies to ensure comprehensive end to end testing and modeling is established.
· Set detailed specifications and implement production plans. Develops operational and maintenance SOPs for the automation systems.
· Supports the development of business cases and recommendations. Owns the delivery of project activity and tasks assigned by others. Supports process updates and changes.
· Describes the concepts behind engineering economics and the implications for business justification for automation benefits. Understands the drivers of cost. Understands how to develop a business case.
· Demonstrate an ability to hold vendors accountable to contract, quality, schedule, and delivery of committed schedules & budgets.
About the Pay:
· Base Salary Range: $130,000

About You:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering/Supply Chain or related field or demonstrated experience with automation in these areas.
· Knowledge of WMS/WCS systems integration and dependencies for optimal achievement of throughput rates is required.
· Experience in delivering large, automated material handling solutions is required.
· Agent of change: Identify, initiate, execute, control, and audit.
· Work with quantitative analysis and models for decision-making and problem solving.
· Able to conduct research, prepare comprehensive reports and present complex statistical information in a clear and succinct fashion.
· Can demonstrate process trouble-shooting ability.
· Can evaluate multiple variables to arrive at the optimum solution.
· Experienced with six sigma and lean manufacturing (Black Belt preferred) and Project Management experience.
· Competency in objective setting and providing appropriate situational leadership to execute these strategies.
· Must be flexible in work hours.
