Job description

The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a Summer Associate or Intern for our Digital team within the Communications, Policy & Advocacy team.

As a Summer Associate or Intern at The Rockefeller Foundation, you will have the chance to contribute to our initiatives through engaging, meaningful work assignments.

Program Details
  • This position is open to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • A cover letter is required.
  • The 2024 summer program will run for 11 weeks from June – August 2024.
  • This position will be based in New York City and requires a hybrid work arrangement, working onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Pay Range
: $25 - $35 hourly rate. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. This is a non-exempt position and thus eligible for overtime pay.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Help with content management on RF’s digital channels and websites.
  • Draft copy for RF’s social channels.
  • Help pull monthly metrics for web, social, and email.
  • Light-lift graphic design for digital platforms, including web pages and social media posts.
  • Support the digital team with on-the-ground content capture during Foundation events and convenings.
  • Help with data visualization creation if skills apply.
  • Assist with the management of digital assets, including but not limited to photos and videos captured by the Foundation staff, its contractors, and grantees.

Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in one of the following areas: communications, digital marketing, information design, content strategy, journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems like WordPress. Familiarity with HTML is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Flourish or Tableau a plus, though not required.
  • Knowledge of major social media channels and current standard processes (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, etc.).
  • Experience or interest in creative writing and copy editing.
  • Interest or experience working in the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities; able to synthesize large volumes of research and data to guide strategy.
  • Proven track record of collaboration and interest in how philanthropic organizations create and implement strategies working alongside partners.
  • Previous work experience in the nonprofit sector, consulting, research, communications, or business-related field preferred).
  • Must be a proactive self-starter.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Committed to the mission of the Foundation.
  • Strong interest in or experience working on climate change, though not required.
