Job Description:

To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be a current student enrolled at McDaniel College. This position is open to both Work Study and campus employment students.

Position: Center for Experience and Opportunity (CEO) Student Ambassador                 

Revision Date: 04/2023, 4/2024

Reports to: CEO Staff                                            

Department: CEO    

Salary Grade: Tier I (Current Maryland minimum wage)                                                

FSLA Status: Non-exempt  

Location of Position: Roj Student Center, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157  

Duration of Appointment: Academic School Year (August 2023-May 2024) 

Scope: CEO Ambassadors represent the Center for Experience and Opportunity (CEO) with experiential learning opportunities, including community-based learning projects, career development work, and study abroad, to the McDaniel and Westminster communities.  

General CEO Ambassador Responsibilities: 

Each CEO Ambassador, in addition to specific job tasks for your specific area (below), will be responsible for the following.  

  • Provide general peer advising to students in support of the CEO's mission, including; community-based learning opportunities, career development skills, internship/job search assistance, study abroad, and more
  • Support events hosted by the CEO, such as: suggesting/developing programs, tabling, staffing, preparation of materials, and setting up/taking down events 
  • Develop marketing and promotional materials to highlight services and events; this could include researching other institutions' outreach and marketing efforts, developing and captioning videos, creating social media, creating and distributing flyers, and updating bulletin board  
  • Representing CEO services and programs at campus-wide events to current and potential students 
  • Provide assistance to CEO staff members teaching My Career coursework, including but not limited to: facilitating discussion, providing feedback on student participation, and leading presentations   
  • Provide administrative support, including: monitoring front desk, basic clerical work (copying, scanning, printing, filing, data entry), and organizing office materials 
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members over the phone, in virtual meetings, and in in-person interactions 
  • Attend training sessions and student staff meetings 
  • Meet with CEO staff supervisor on a regular basis 
  • Other duties as assigned  

Career Development Ambassador Additional Responsibilities:   

  • Assist in the creation and revision of inclusive, relevant, and helpful career development resources for current students and alumni  
  • Assist in the development and implementation of small and large scale career programming such as workshops, panel discussions, and other signature events  

Study Abroad Ambassador Additional Responsibilities:   

  • Help recruit and track students interested in study abroad opportunities 
  • Assist in the creation and revision of inclusive, relevant, and helpful study abroad resources for current students and alumni  
  • Assist in the development and implementation of small- and large-scale study abroad programming such as workshops, panel discussions, and study abroad fairs 
  • Assist in development and implementation of activities/events for international students

Community Engagement Ambassador Additional Responsibilities:   

  • Support the development and implementation of new and innovating community engagement or service initiatives   
  • Assist in the creation and revision of inclusive, relevant, and helpful community engagement resources or service initiatives for current students and alumni  
  • Assist in the development and implementation of community engagement programming such as workshops, panel discussions, and service fairs

Schedule:  

  • 4-10 hours a week, Monday-Friday  
  • Some evening and weekends are possible  

 


Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College  
  • Passionate about helping students engage in experiential learning opportunities 
  • 3.0 GPA required. Failure to maintain the GPA requirement will result in a formal review and a probationary period at the end of each semester. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office365 and social media (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)  
  • Strong communication and writing skills  
  • Highly organized and detail oriented  
  • Ability to work independently once given a task   
  • Ability to accurately assess and handle phone calls, appointments, conversations with students, staff, faculty, and community members, etc., with a positive attitude 
  • Discretion and reliability in sensitive and confidential matters
