The Department of Psychiatry at the UConn School of Medicine is seeking an undergraduate Student Worker for the Supporting Teen Adjustment and Resilience Study (STARS). The aim of STARS is to gain a better understanding of early adolescents' use of emotion regulation strategies, and the way in which parents support the development of these skills. We are examining these emotional processes in families affected by trauma.
This Student Worker will act as a Student Research Assistant involved in all aspects of study administration. They will assist with recruitment activities in the community, screening and scheduling subjects, and other administrative tasks, as needed. The student research assistant will also assist with parent and child baseline visits to our laboratory, where families will be completing questionnaires and learning to use the mobile app for the EMA portion of the study. The Student Worker will receive training in relevant tasks and be expected to attend research team meetings. This position will be located in our West Hartford, CT location.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Experience working with children and families.
Experience recruiting research subjects and conducting research assessments.
Familiarity with on-line survey assessment software (e.g. REDCap, Qualtrics).
Currently enrolled in a Psychology-related degree program.
Ability to operate a computer and other research equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
Must have reliable transportation with a willingness to travel to additional UConn locations (mileage will be reimbursed).
SCHEDULE: This is a part-time, temporary position with a 6-month duration. 8 hours per week and schedule will vary upon department need.
SALARY: $18.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
