The Department of Surgery (Otolaryngology) in the School of Medicine is looking to add a temporary Student Laborer (Non-Service Worker) to join our growing team.
This position's primary responsibilities are assisting the ENT residents with their research projects for the Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Resident program.
Target start date: February 2024
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
  • Maintaining operational capacity of the laboratory.
  • Assisting in meeting regulatory obligations including Animal Care Committee and Institutional Review Board.
  • Assisting in conduct of experimental studies involving animal models or human subjects.
  • Assisting in collection and analysis of the data.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of basic principles of research.
  • Incumbent must be enrolled in a medically related degree program.
  • Incumbent required to obtain UConn Health animal research training and other certifications at the earliest opportunity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Animal Care Committee (ACC) exposure.

SCHEDULE: 20 hours per week; shifts primarily between 8:00am-5:00pm but schedule to be determined based on needs of department. May include some weekends.

DURATION: Approximately 6 months

HOURLY RATE: $16.00. This position is not benefits eligible.
