Space Dynamics Laboratory is looking to immediately hire a student employee to fill an Information Assurance Assistant role. Student positions offer a part-time flexible work schedule of up to 20 hours/week during the school year, and up to 40 hours/week during the summer and school breaks.
Pertinent information for student employees to know about ISS office:
- Communication is one of the biggest aspects of this job. You will be communicating with program managers and program personnel. Effective communication is key as it reflects on the entire ISS team and security department.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Research NIST 800-53 and Risk Management Framework (RMF) policies
- Perform manual audits of computer systems to track security events
- Review SCAP scans and coordinate with system administrators to ensure hardening level of systems for DCSA compliance
- Review Nessus scans and coordinate with system administrators to patch vulnerabilities
- Coordinate with system administrators on monthly patches and weekly anti-virus updates
- Update program paperwork through eMASS and assist full-time staff with tracking Authority to Operation (ATO) documents
- Research software requests from programs to ensure DCSA compliance
- Provide customer service to the lab with ISS Service Desk requests
- Train program personnel on security policies and procedures during user agreement briefings
- Assist physical security with access control during annual conferences
- Assist members of full-time staff with various activities
Attributes and Skills:

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Basic understanding of Windows 10
- Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux preferred
- Basic hardware and software configuration skills
- Handling of personally identifiable information (PII)
- Attention to detail
- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to obtain a government secret-level security clearance (US Citizenship is required)
- Passion for information technology and security
- Must be a USU student currently studying an IT or CS-related field
