Position Overview
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) strives to enhance learning, improve service and communication, and increase student, faculty, staff, and community access to useful information through the application of technology. Information Technology at UCO provides computing, networking, e-learning, telephone, training, and support services to students, faculty, staff and the University community. Perform computer and customer service-related duties in an office setting. Typical duties may include but are not limited to: typing, filing, answering telephones, customer service, scheduling appointments, and Microsoft Office experience.
Department Overview
Provide customer service to the UCO community via phone, email, online portal, and in person. Duties include answering phones, troubleshooting computer related issues, documenting incidents/requests, application support, and more. Perform other duties as directed by supervisor. Federal Work-Study may be available.
Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students shall be enrolled full time to be eligible to work as a student worker. Full time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.
Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact jobs@uco.edu for more information.
Qualifications/Experience Required
Experience working with Windows, Macintosh, iPhones, and Android devices. A high level of technical skills not required, but prefer candidates understand the basics of troubleshooting and are able to intelligently work with clients on various issues. Seeking energetic team players who are able to function in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred
Excellent verbal and written English skills. Ability to type consistently at a rate of 30 words per minute or faster. Great attitude with a strong desire to provide excellent customer service and for continual improvement. Ability to quickly absorb and make effective use of knowledge related to technology services and other services provided by various UCO departments. Ability to multitask and make effective use of available time.
