Streets Maintenance Tech

Performs a variety of entry level semi-skilled duties related to the construction, installation, maintenance, upkeep and repair of town buildings, streets, cemeteries, sidewalks, and other Town infrastructure.

• Assists Heavy Equipment Operators to complete maintenance tasks on Town Streets, trails, sidewalks, and rights of way.
• Uses shovels, rakes, weed burners, hand tools, flagging paddles, general light equipment, and other items necessary to complete a task.
• Uses paints, cleaners, greases, oils, and other chemicals related to maintenance and equipment.
• Performs sign maintenance.
• Cleans equipment and equipment yard, removes street side litter, cuts foliage, and disposes of debris.
• Helps control the flow of traffic and maintain signage in and around project sites to keep staff and the public safe.
• Repairs fences, gates, walls, and sidewalks; assists in maintaining bridges.
• Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
• Grounds maintenance and general cleanup at the Town cemeteries and other sites.
• Assists at special events including some holidays.
• Interacts with the public in a professional manner.
• Is capable of being trained on different equipment and tools.
• Performs other duties as required.

Demonstratable experience in general construction, road maintenance, outside labor, or related duties.Some knowledge of equipment and tool operation, such as mowers, trimmers, mechanics tools, general construction, etc. and the hazards and related safety precautions associated with equipment operation.
Some skill in the operation of various types of equipment such as trucks, trailers, mowers, and hand tools, etc.
Ability to effectively, perform various unskilled and semi-skilled functions related street, sidewalk, cemetery, and vehicle maintenance; communicate verbally and in writing; develop effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and the public. Ability to learn on the job and perform duties without direct supervision.Employment Type: Full-Time
