How will you make an impact?

The Director, Strategic Accounts leads the relationship across the enterprise between assigned strategic channel partners (primarily Avantor, parent company to VWR International) and Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Director will build the overall partnership strategy and collaborate with the divisions to develop the divisional and business unit strategies.  They will cultivate relationships at the senior level channel partner and in various operating divisions of our organization to improve Thermo Fisher revenues and partner at the highest levels with the customer.

This position can be located remotely in the US and will report to the VP, Strategic Accounts – Laboratory Products Group.

What will you do?             

  • Partner with Thermo Fisher Scientific manufacturing commercial organizations, accountable for the retention and growth of approximately $300M in sales of the companys private label and branded products through channel
  • Develop strategic business growth initiatives in line with manufacturing organizations for expanding sales through the channel partner, ensuring alignment across the business functions; drives plans by working closely with the channel partners’ commercial team and establishing monitoring systems to track success
  • Represent the channel partners back to Thermo Fisher Scientific divisions to improve sales, drive delivery and product performance, respond to product requests and to find ways to enhance growth of Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactured products
  • Manage and develop the sales of Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactured products to the channel partners globally
  • Establish robust monthly and quarterly forecasting and reporting processes
  • Control expenses against budget

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 plus years of shown experience in sales or marketing within the research market preferably in a corporate account, channel management or sales management capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and persuasive communications abilities.
  • Strong role model sales leader with ability to develop and motivate people at all levels
  • Experience of developing strategic operating plans with a strong emphasis on execution of commercial growth drivers.
  • A solid foundation in financial skills used in a selling environment to demonstrate return on investment.
  • Substantiated capability to effectively negotiate and close business with channel partners across multiple levels.
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of customers’ business that results in great solutions. 
  • Must be willing to travel 30 - 50% of time.

  • Demonstrated eye for business with an ability to articulate and achieve a clear vision and goals

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  •  Capable of working across geographical regions taking consideration of differences in local business practices and culture
  • Strong influencing skills, demonstrating an ability to influence a range of team members in diverse functions and organizational levels
