Some of what you'll do:
- Provide outreach and prevention to promote Sexually Transmitted Infection screening, awareness and treatment in high prevalence areas in Pierce County.
- Build relationships and educate Pierce County residents, community partners, and providers about STD awareness, testing and treatment.
- Partner with other Community Health Workers (CHWs) to provide a variety of education messages, distributing materials, presentations
- Participate in outreach events, provider visits, and client field visits.
- Assist clients in accessing testing/treatment of STDs as well as providing referrals for additional resources/services.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of marketing principles and presentation techniques for a wide variety of audiences.
- Skill in organizing work activities to meet established objectives.
- Skill in communicating effectively in writing and orally to individuals and groups.
- Ability to assist in the development and marketing of health promotion materials.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population of community members, medical providers, businesses, schools, community-based agencies, and departmental staff.
- Ability to collect and maintain confidential information.
Required Certifications and Licensure
A valid driver's license and an acceptable driver's abstract prior to employment.
Desired Skills:
- Local community involvement, experience with field visits.
- Phlebotomy experience
- Experience with evidence-based prevention strategies, outreach, and education.
- Bilingual
- This position requires an alternate schedule on Thursdays from 11:00am-7:30pm to match clinic hours.
- Office environment and a variety of other settings: street outreach, clinical offices, client homes.
- Your office will be set up to provide personal safety, including social distancing, screening, sanitation, disinfection, and masks.
- Work involves special physical demands such as lifting and carrying 25 - 50 lbs , carrying testing kits and health promotion materials.
- Duties require the use of standard office furniture and equipment (e.g., desk, filing cabinet, computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, etc.)
- Driving a vehicle requiring a license.
- Some travel is required and is typically local or regional, to meet with clients, conduct business, or attend or
provide training.
When public health responds to an emergency you may be assigned duties that are outside your regular job description. This may involve responding at any time, including nights and weekends, with possible deployment to locations other than the department.Employment Type: Regular
