Day to Day
Indeed is seeking an experienced Data Scientist / machine learning engineer to help responsibly develop Indeed’s next generation of generative AI systems and ensure they are beneficial for job seekers, employers, and society. As part of the Responsible AI team, you will design, implement, and integrate with large-scale machine learning and artificial intelligence systems that scale to millions of users. You will work with other scientists, engineers, and researchers to steer large language models to be useful, performant, and fair. Your efforts will also support and improve the work of other AI teams across the company. Additionally, you will partner with cross-functional teams, evangelize your team's work, and stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, deep learning, and NLP within a team that values continuous learning. Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate with language models from prototype to production
- Design, build, and support systems to detect and reduce problematic content associated with language models
- Design, implement, and evangelize best practices for evaluation and monitoring
- Participate in and contribute to architecture design discussions across the company
- Partner cross-functionally with teams across the company on model inference and product applications
- Develop cohesive knowledge of Indeed’s broad array of products and systems
- Mentor other software engineers and Data Scientists; guide colleagues on the responsible use and development of language models
- Balance technical and product thinking, and show ownership for team priorities and Indeed’s mission to help people get jobs
Skills/Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (including Computer Science, Math, the physical sciences, the social sciences, or related fields)
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, software engineering, machine learning engineer, or academic equivalent
- Prior success creating, deploying, and maintaining deep learning solutions in large-scale production systems, including large-scale GPU computing
- Experience training, fine tuning and evaluating language models
- Provendegree of agency, autonomy, and ownership
- Knowledge and hands-on experience working with deep learning frameworks such as Torch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, etc.

Seattle, Metro Area 183,000 - 266,000 USD per year
SF Bay Area 191,000 - 276,000 USD per year
Remote, US 164,000 - 238,000 USD per year
Salary Range Disclaimer
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
