Job Description
This position provides legal research, analysis, counsel, and assistance to Minnesota State Patrol leadership and staff. The incumbent acts as liaison to DPS General Counsel and counterparts with the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General, as well as legal counterparts from other entities. This position may be directed to specific districts within the Minnesota State Patrol, providing targeted counsel and assistance to meet with the agency’s needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate law degree from an accredited law school and a valid MN attorney law license.
- Three years experience interpreting state and federal law and conducting legal analysis and research.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of MN criminal justice system.
- Experience with data practices.
- Experience drafting contracting and other agreements.
- Experience with the MN legislative process.
- Experience creating and delivery training.
Physical Requirements
Very Light: Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
