Job Description
The primary role of the Staff Accountant/Manager will be to perform complex clerical and bookkeeping tasks while managing apx 7 staff members. An important part of your role will be to process General ledger accounting, Account Receivables, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Human Resources processing and prepare financial statements for CPA’s, Tax preparers, banks and creditors. The individual for this position must be a critical thinker with excellent organizational skills and thorough attention to detail. The Staff Accountant must have a thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices & procedures.

About Us
Tidwell Bookkeeping Services has been the leader in Bookkeeping Services on the Central Coast for over 25 years. We provide bookkeeping and payroll services to in house clients and offsite at clients offices.
Our corporate office is in Atascadero. Although the majority of our work is on the Central Coast, we do have many clients out of the area.
Responsibilities for the Role
- Preparing Financials for CPA and/or Tax preparer
- Work with clients to get items needed to prepare financials
- Understanding of a Balance sheet
- Bank Reconciliation
- AR AP and Credit Cards
- Payroll processing, new hires, terminations, payroll taxes and quarterlies
- Manage assigned staff of bookkeepers with questions
- Auditing assigned staff’s work
- Covering assigned staff’s workload as needed
- Assist with production and growth of the business
- Insight to find things that are not correct
- Assists with updates within the accounting software.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- This job will be part to full-time in the office.
- The ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.
- The ability to listen effectively and receive feedback.
- Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting is a plus
- The ability to maintain detailed records of all tasks.
- Good team player, Self-confident, motivated, and independent.
- Problem-solving skills are a must.
- Capable of maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in difficult situations.
- Comprehensive understanding of HR best practices, employee benefits, and state and federal employment laws.
- QuickBooks Desktop and QBO Software – 4 years
- MS Excel and Word – Proficient
- Time Tracking Software’s
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required with some bookkeeping coursework, Associates in Business or Accounting, or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting preferred.
- Minimum, two years’ experience in a bookkeeping/staff accountant role.
Physical Demands of the job
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk & working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
