Staff Accountant - Finance Team Alsip

Griffith Foods is a global manufacturer of food products. We provide a wide range of taste and texture components for food industry customers throughout the world. Our products include seasoning blends, dry mixes, coating systems, dough blends, crumbs, flavors, sauces and food bases that are used in an extensive variety of application from snack foods and processed meat and poultry to ready meals. Location: Hybrid (Home & Alsip Office)
Summary: Support general accounting, cost accounting, freight reporting, and internal control assessment within GFUS. This includes reporting and analysis, system maintenance, and functional support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
General Accounting

• The individual will be responsible for 3 key areas within general accounting: 1. Maintaining balance sheet account reconciliations for GFUS, Custom Culinary, and North America. 2. Assist with daily / weekly accounting needs including but not limited to: weekly check runs, check deposits, daily sales reporting, and assistance with coding. 3. Month end processes including: standard month-end entries, preparing and analyzing month end results, and headcount reporting and tracking, AP-Pcard consolidated electronic report to support individual month balances, and maintaining departmental expense reporting files (master GL file). Analysis and review of spend variance will require follow-up, corrective actions, and meetings with budget manager to assess spending variances.

Cost Accounting

• Be available to assist for mid-year and year-end inventory audit. Purchase price variance analysis and reporting. Ability to analyze raw material cost variances related to budget and standard for purchase prices and burdens.

Internal Control & Process Documentation

• The individual will be responsible for review and document internal controls as they relate to purchasing, disbursements, accounts receivable, sales, inventory control, and financial statement preparations. They will also support the annual audit performed by our external auditors.

Analytical/Development (Freight)

• The individual will be responsible for maintaining our freight reporting and administrative work. This includes audit savings report, month end freight JV, and daily coding of freight charges. Also included will be working with our outside payment vendor (Kenco) to understand current capabilities with freight information/reporting and could develop into opportunities for cost improvement with freight carriers and processes.

System competencies

• Validate improvement projects that will result in cost savings and/or additional revenue for the company with powersteering.
• Coding and submission of invoices to Laserfiche.
• Ability to Operate within Microsoft Dynamics and D365.

Other

• Prepare monthly budget files and analyze results for distribution to department heads. Pcard reporting and assistance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university.
• 2-3 years of related experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and Freight Management system is a plus.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and proactive analytics.

• Strong computer skills including advanced excel, (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formula creation, Power Pivot) is required.
