The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial transactions and records to provide information, primarily financial in nature.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets
- Protect assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls
- Conduct financial, bank and tax audits and provide information to external auditors
- Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
- Manage accounts payable personnel to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, and cash control
- Make recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets and expenditures
- Manage accounts receivable personnel to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc.; funding weekly service management, payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management
- Perform variance analysis and prepare account reconciliations
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and analysis of cash flow
- Prepare monthly borrowing base certificates
- Prepare monthly sales and use tax filings with state of IL, Canada and Great Britain
- Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
- Act as liaison between the accounting department and all other departments
REQUIRED Education/experience/Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional accountant experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
- Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational skills with an attention to detail
- CPA Certification a plus
- Experience with Epicor ERP Software a plus
