STAFF ACCOUNTANT Description: The Staff Accountant supports The Vecino Group, performing professional level accounting in the maintenance and review of fiscal records. The position requires considerable knowledge of construction accounting principles and functions. The individual will be responsible for the general ledger of various Vecino entities, as well as job costing, pay application preparation and reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, revenue recognition and monthly financial reporting. Job Duties•Handle and process all aspects of payables, including construction pay applications (G702/G703), coding, job costing, contract monitoring and maintenance of the job cost chart of accounts•Process subcontractor payment applications for monthly billings•Process A/R, including depositing checks, treasury management, vendor refunds, etc.•Prepare and submit credit applications•Preparation and submission of 1099s•Assist in preparation of company financial reporting requirements•Assist with financial reviews, audits and tax returns•Prepare and enter journal entries related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, job costing, etc.•Prepare monthly close and related journal entries, including preparation of WIP schedules and adjustments for Billings or Costs in Excess, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, income and expense accruals, etc.•Monthly review of job cost activity to ensure consistent and proper codingQualifications and Requirements•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent industry-specific experience required•Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction accounting required•Minimum 3 years’ experience using Sage 300, Sage Intacct or similar software required•Knowledge of AIA construction documents (G702/G703) required•Must be a self-starter with minimal supervision•Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software•Adaptability for introduction and implementation of new software and systems/templates for operational improvement and efficiency•High degree of customer service and communication skills.
