Job Description
As a Staff Accountant at Alcott HR, you'll support the accounting & finance department's day-to-day operations by performing a range of accounting tasks to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions. Our accounting & finance team manages the planning and forecasting process and engages in all activities related to general accounting including accounts receivable/accounts payable functions, bank reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis, payroll taxes, cash processing, and general ledger entries.
Here's what you'll do:
- Maintain accounting ledgers and other financial records detailing organizational business transactions.
- Manage and complete multiple projects within required timeframes and expectations.
- Coordinate, follow up and effectively communicate with Accounting & Finance team members and other Alcott departments.
- Have an analytical eye for current accounting related processes and support the modification of these processes to address changes in business needs, market demand and technology.
- Assist in daily, quarterly, and monthly payroll tax payments and filing returns.
- Perform various accounts payable and accounts receivable (AP/AR) functions.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and tie out to monthly G/L for closing.
- Compile reports in connection with quarterly reviews and annual audits of company's accounts and 401K Plan.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reporting.
- Manage various spreadsheets and assist in performing various reconciliations, including benefits and G/L accounts.
- Use advanced functions of MS Excel regularly including pivot tables, XLOOKUP's, and merging data from multiple spreadsheets.
- Possess strong organizational skills, maintain detailed records.
- Perform other special assignments and projects as needed.
You are someone who has:
- 2+ years of related accounting and finance experience.
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and services related to payroll and payroll data entry.
- Advanced MS Excel knowledge, with mindset for continued growth within this platform.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent years of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Sage or a similar accounting software.
- Familiarity with the payroll process and payroll taxes, knowledge of 401k reporting/audits a plus.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial data and prepare timely reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and proven success successfully managing multiple projects at one time, meeting deadlines.
- Experience in one of the following industries: Professional Employer Organization (PEO), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Human Capital Management Systems (HCM), or Human Resources Consulting a plus.
