Position Summary
The Staff Accountant plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the company's Accounting functions. The role is primarily responsible, under general supervision, for performing all branch accounting processes and P & L tasks assigned; as well as, assisting with calculating monthly incentive compensation and bonus payments for assigned regions.
Essential Functions
- Process recurring and one-time monthly close tasks such as journal entries, adjustments, reporting, account reconciliations and other basic accounting tasks for branches and corporate departments.
- Analyze variances for monthly P&L's for branches at assigned regions.
- Research and respond to branch managers' inquiries for assigned regions.
- Train branch managers and other branch employees on the Loan Vision Branch Portal.
- Prepare Monthly Regional Override and Bonus Memos.
- Review Monthly Branch Manager and Sales Manager Override Bonus Memos.
- Assist with all aspects of compensation as it relates to assigned regions for branch/district/regional managers, including: calculation, research, interpreting contracts, communication, accounting, and reconciliation.
- Prepare miscellaneous reporting for management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance, along with at least 5 years of relevant accounting experience required; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 2 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
- Thorough understanding of accounting including but not limited to: prepaid, accruals, income statement accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany accounts, consolidation, reconciliations and general ledger.
- Preferred experience includes mortgage industry experience, sales compensation experience, Loan Vision software, advanced MS Excel including pivot tables and V-Lookups. Ability to read and interpret compensation contracts.
- Possess attention to detail; as well as, a quick learner who can adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Time management, organization, analytical and multi-tasking skills required, with the ability to handle tight deadlines.
- Excellent research and problem-solving skills and ability to propose solutions to problems.
- High level of integrity and ethical behavior.

- Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
- Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
- Environmental: Office environment - no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Targeted Salary Range: $23.99/hr to $31.73/hr
