The Staff Accountant is responsible for the daily accounting tasks, accounts receivable,
ensuring the accuracy and completeness of records, assisting with the general ledger and
monthly closing process, and maintaining and improving the system. Responsibilities also
include adherence to the monthly and quarterly close process and timeline, preparing all entries
to the general ledger and account reconciliation and analysis related to general ledger accounts
to ensure the continued integrity and accuracy of these accounts on the Company’s financial
results and balance sheet.
Primary Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable
Perform invoice entry via three-way match and/or obtain the approval of applicable manager or
supervisor. Apply payments to customer accounts. Sending invoices and customer account
statements. Maintaining accounts receivable files and records. Investigating and resolving any
discrepancies, irregularities or inquiries. Make collection calls to customers on any invoices past
due/short paid. Light filing and scanning.
Sales Tax (use tax) filing.
Collect and analyze sales and sales tax data, prepare and file sales tax returns report for
multiple jurisdictions timely, arrange sales tax payments. Assisting with maintaining a
compliance schedule of all state filings. Communicates and negotiates with tax authorities over
tax payment and audit issues through letter writing. Remains current and up to date on existing
and upcoming tax laws and rates. Review and resolve tax notices.
General Ledger
Complete Journal Entries accurately and in timely manner.
Reconcile General Ledger Accounts and perform account analysis to ensure the integrity of the
financial information.
Assist with monthly closing procedures.
Execute credit card and bank accounts reconciliation.
Assist and participate in preparing for internal and external reviews and audits.
Assist in preparing and compiling necessary financial information and reports for outside
auditors and other outside organizations.
Assist with ad hoc assignments.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Robust internal controls understanding and documentation of all financial processes and
transactions.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and related tools.
Comprehensive understanding of general accounting principles
Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires reconciliation and
evaluation of identifiable factors.
Requires exercise of judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting
methods and techniques to obtain solutions.
Strong communication skills, ability to present financial information in a meaningful
understandable way.
Ability to question norms and respectfully challenge others.
Good team building skills including trust, professionalism, and be able to garner consensus
across diverse groups.
Self-motivated and ability to work independently and collaboratively and strong organizational
skills are essential.
Detail oriented, ability to accomplish multiple tasks within agreed timeframe(s) through effective
prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work in a time-sensitive and high-volume environment.
Education & Professional Experience:
A bachelor’s degree, major in accounting or equivalent, with a depth of skills in accounting,
reporting, analysis supply chain, processes and procedures
Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Requires 3+ years AR and multistate sales and use tax compliance in retail and wholesale.
ERP experience a plus; prefer to be Sage BrightPearl
