SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under the guidance of the Corporate Controller, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting in accurate and timely preparation, support and analysis of financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare month-end journal entries and assist in compilation of financial statements and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Complete audit-quality account reconciliations monthly for balance sheet accounts including the capital projects in progress accounts, researching and correcting account discrepancies.
- Review coding of A/P, A/R and similar transactions to ensure they are coded to the correct account and in the proper period.
- Assist Corporate Controller in providing schedules and commentary clearly and articulately explaining variances, both favorable and unfavorable to projections.
- Work as a part of a team exhibiting cooperative behavior that maximizes effectiveness and efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriate use of financial, personnel and other private information.
- Additional ad hoc functions as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience preforming accounting transactions and reviewing financial data.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the application thereof.
- Experience in preparing balance sheet and general ledger reconciliation.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in recording financial transactions.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines and changing priorities.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, with the accounting department, operations and outside the organization.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize effectively.
- Ability to accept direct guidance from supervisor and follow through on assignments with moderate direction from supervisor.
- Ability to work with changing priorities and constant interruptions to complete assignments with the proper level of importance with guidance from Corporate Controller.
- Ability to work as a part of a team exhibiting cooperative behavior that maximizes effectiveness and efficiency.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Accounting / Finance experience in a manufacturing industry or similar industry with significant constantly changing inventory.
- Experience using Sage X3.
- CPA candidate.
MEETING PARTICIPATION
Meetings, both in person, will be required.
AUTHORITY
This position reports to the Corporate Controller
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position is not a managerial role and does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
CLASSIFICATION
This is a full-time exempt role.

Proven, solid Excel skills and exposure to automated accounting systems.
