This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned based on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans. Position placement is at Amtrak’s sole and absolute discretion.

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This role supports the development, implementation, and administration of Amtrak’s compensation processes and programs following established standards and policies so programs are administered effectively and equitably in accordance with statutory regulations and the organization’s total rewards strategy. This role provides guidance to HR Partners on compensation related matters.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Under general direction, provides comprehensive analytical support for the design and administration of executive and broad-based compensation programs, position evaluations, salary recommendations, and other department projects and initiatives.
  • Participates in salary submission efforts and benchmarking, coordinates job descriptions, prepares market data reports, and analyzes trends for management review and consideration.
  • Maintains accuracy of employee data in HRIS system by conducting routine audits of the organizational structure to ensure proper titling, grading, and job code assignment.
  • Streamlines compensation processes by analyzing business needs, benchmarking best practices, developing and documenting procedures, and recommending changes to existing compensation program/practices while ensuring compliance with state and local regulations/legislation.
  • Assists in the development and delivery of compensation related training to various stakeholders.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Strong customer service orientation, excellent attention to detail and follow through.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and exercise good judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts and perspectives in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently, achieve deliverables within tight timeframes, and work effectively in a diverse, collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills. Ability to manage end-to-end processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; Strong financial modeling and analysis skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 or more years of relevant experience
  • Master’s in Human Resources Management, Business, or related field
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or progress towards certification
  • SuccessFactors Compensation Module / Employee Central / SAP experience
  • PayFactors

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently performs tasks that may require sitting for extended periods of time
  • Frequently uses a computer keyboard and monitor to perform a variety of tasks
  • Occasional exposure to train stations and work/rebuild facilities

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

The salary/hourly range is $78,600 - $101,844 for a Sr Compensation Analyst and $94,300 - $122,256 for a Lead Compensation Analyst. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation. If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.

 

In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
