SCOPE:
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (SR HRBP) provides strategic advice and HR operational services to business unit leaders, managers, and key stakeholders to support organizational objectives and outcomes. This role serves as a consultant on all HR-related matters, acts as an employee champion, leadership coach, and change agent. The SR HRBP formulates partnerships across MHIA to drive solutions and deliver value-added HR services to management and employees that reflect the organization's business objectives and are consistent with MHIA policies, values, and culture.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as the first point of contact for people-related questions and concerns ensuring outstanding customer focus by delivering value-added, best in class Human Resources support.
- Consults with the business's leadership and management to foster and promote the engagement of the business's core values at all levels.
- Assists leadership and management on progressive discipline of employees as well as employment decisions.
- Ensures alignment between people management practices and existing MHIA policies and procedures.
- Conducts research, and consistently interprets, develops, and enforces HR policies and best practices.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
- Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations. Maintain detailed and accurate accounts of investigations with timely documentation.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, corrective/disciplinary actions).
- Leads with integrity, respect, high personal standards and builds personal credibility.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Provides guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Partners with leaders, managers, and Talent Acquisition on workforce planning, hiring and headcount management.
- Collaborate with HR team members and leverage their expertise in delivering and implementing functional initiatives.
- Identifies training needs for business units and individual coaching needs. Proactively assess team, manager, and employee development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate approved solutions.
- Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
- Visit site locations as needed to provide HR oversight, guidance, and coaching.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, finance, or other relevant business field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience:
- At minimum 8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4 years in a HR Business Partner or similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state employment laws. Prior experience working and applying HR principles with prior experience developing, maintaining, and improving processes to achieve greater efficiencies and performance.
- Any special skills/training/certifications:
- Strong ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Strong strategic consulting, coaching, decision making and influencing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
- Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and the ability to manage and deliver on multiple priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Experience providing coaching and feedback to leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proactive nature.
- Human Resources certification through HRCI or SHRM, preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Travel: Up to 20% domestic travel.
- Varying work hours may be necessary due to business demands.
- Lifting/physical requirements: up to 10 pounds
