The Role
The Warranty Data Analytics team is looking for an innovative, forward-thinking analyst to join their team. The Warranty Data Analytics Sr Finance Analyst is responsible for understanding GM warranty business processes, developing forecasting models and analyzing data trends. The role requires a high level of independent judgment, decision making and analytical capabilities, and ability to communicate complex data analyses and results.
What You'll Do
Understand new warranty coverages and develop new models
Develop and analyze warranty forecasting models using actuarial concepts
Provide input for quarterly reserve adequacy studies based on actuarial analysis of claims spend
Assess reserve balances using actuarially accepted techniques appropriate for the type and length of coverage or size of the balance
Contribute to the annual warranty accrual rate setting process
Provide data deliverables and ad-hoc support to the GM North America and GM International Warranty Accounting teams
Utilize new technologies and solutions to support Data Analytics and dashboarding
Partner with IT to explore machine learning for predictive analytics
Support IT with infrastructure and technology changes
Develop and present data solutions to other members of the organization
Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting requests
Maintain controls and work with Financial Assurance and external auditors to streamline existing business processes and develop new/enhanced control procedures
Collaborate with Global Warranty, Controllership, Finance, IT & external auditors
Model GM’s desired behaviors including safety

Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field
5 + years of relevant experience in Actuarial Science, Finance, Data Analytics and/or related field
Experience with SQL/ HQL/ Python
Actuarial experience or experience in statistical modeling and forecasting
Knowledge of VBA, HUE, Power BI, and/or KNIME
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and deliver within restricted time constraints
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and partnerships
Ability to embrace and manage change
