REM is looking for a talented and driven Financial Analyst to join our Finance team and support our finance operations at the company's main office in Traverse City, MI.
Riverside Energy Michigan is a natural gas producer, with the bulk of field operations stretching from the western shores to the eastern shores of the beautiful state of Michigan. Our HQ is located in Traverse City, and we have offices in Gaylord Michigan, Washington Indiana, and The Woodlands Texas. With over 225 employees, Riverside is the leading natural gas producer in Michigan, operating over 5,500 wells and supplying over 50% of the natural gas produced in Michigan. We remain focused on making a positive long-term impact in Northern Michigan and Southern Indiana, and continue to seek high quality acquisitions, to consolidate properties under our operations, to increase production, and to pursue initiatives that add value.

COMPENSATION: $65,000 to $85,000 annual salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience; this is a benefits and bonus eligible position

Principle Accountabilities:
The Financial Analyst works closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure company financial reporting and quarterly reserve reports are accurate and timely. This position interfaces with all internal departments, including Riverside's Executive team. This position also interfaces with external sources such as vendors, investors, asset brokers, and other Oil & Gas players in the market.
Process and summarize ad hoc, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual production and financial information via Excel, Word, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint. Evaluate profitability and make recommendations.
Research and prepare certain items for Riverside's financial modeling, financial reporting, budget, actual costs, historical data, asset valuation, and investor statements such as Lease Operator Statement.
Utilize, maintain, and verify data in OGSYS (accounting software) and PHDWin (economics & reserve analysis software) for reporting and tracking purposes.
Must be familiar with financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, asset depreciation, and cash flow; know how to review terms and provide insight and backup data to explain the financials.
Participate in evaluating investment portfolios (driven by Business Development team), company prospects, company financials, local and global economy, and business trends.
Gain understanding in how economic trends, new regulations, policies, and political situations may affect investments. Monitor O&G market and current local and national economy trends - track daily pricing of natural gas and crude oil.
Work in coordination with other departments during mergers or acquisitions, including reviewing financial statements provided, along with other due diligence items to assess if fair and profitable value.
Requirements:
Minimum of Associate degree required, prefer Bachelor degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance.
3+ years Financial Analysis or Accounting experience required; Oil & Gas industry accounting knowledge a plus.
3+ years of experience in entering, manipulating, correcting, auditing, and reporting out of a complex accounting software required. Experience with OGSYS and PHDwin is a plus.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills, with ability to prepare accurate reports and business correspondence with acute attention to detail and an eagerness to grow and learn.
Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational and negotiation skills; able to prioritize and follow through consistently with changing priorities.
A professional and positive attitude with ability to work independently while also meeting team deadlines. Solid relationship building skills.
Must have clean driving record - will utilize company pool vehicles for field visits.

Schedule: 10/80 (M-F, 8 hours/day) or 9/80 (M-Th 9 hours/day & every other Friday 8 hours/day). Due to the nature of this position, a successful person will need to have after-hours availability.
Location: Traverse City office at least 3 days per week in office, with remote capabilities the other 2 days. This position will move to 5 days per week in the office, at some point in the future. The Leelanau Trail, which connects to the TART trail, is just a 3 minute walk from our parking lot.
The fun "stuff" planned for this summer: 2 planned celebrations at local breweries/wineries/cider houses, an afternoon of volunteering at Cherry Festival (7 years in a row), local bike ride up the Leelanau Trail, kayak down the Lower Platte, watching Thunderbirds/Blue Angels and fireworks from our 3rd story private patio over West Bay, and in office lunch and learns.
