SCHOOL/UNIT DESCRIPTION:
The Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) is Stanford University’s thought leader for understanding the economic challenges, opportunities, and policies affecting people in the US and around the world. SIEPR’s mission is to support research that informs economic policymaking while engaging future leaders and scholars. SIEPR supports over 100 faculty members representing all seven schools in Stanford. Our faculty study a vast array of economic policy-relevant areas and collaborate with other established and up-and-coming researchers from within and outside Stanford.

SIEPR’s Events team delivers a suite of events for faculty, donors, policymakers, business leaders and students in support of SIEPR’s mission. Throughout the academic year, Event Planners are an integral part of executing monthly events, bi-annual policy forums, and annual SIEPR economic summit, which draws an in-person attendance of about 450-500 attendees, including donors, policymakers, academics, and business leaders. The team works closely with other SIEPR units.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Event Planner 3 (EP3) is an integral member of SIEPR’s Events team. The EP3 provides strategic planning, oversight, and logistical support for a suite of academic and non-academic events at SIEPR.

SIEPR produces dozens of events each year, including a mix of in-person and virtual monthly events, bi-annual policy forums, academic conferences, annual summit, and events that SIEPR co-sponsor and/or partner with other institutions. The high frequency of the events at SIEPR means that Event Planners must be highly organized and efficient, and have excellent communication skills. The EP3 will work with the leadership team, management team, as well as junior Event Planners, to ensure the successful planning and execution of each event. The EP3 will also build strong relationship with internal and external partners, especially vendors, to streamline the event planning process.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Serve as project manager of multiple activities, scope out project tasks/team assignments and guide team to create work plans and schedules, monitor progress, and meet milestones.
  • Oversee the management of event teams and/or production consultants to produce quality, multi-faceted events and productions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external university partners.
  • Act as department representative at cross-departmental project meetings.
  • Operate as account manager on deliverables, program metrics, and status reports.
  • Work cross-departmentally to prepare and manage complex program budgets.
  • Recommend and schedule events into appropriate off-campus and on-campus venues.
  • Oversee registration strategy and logistics.
  • May hire and oversee support staff, students and contingent event staff.
  • Train and supervise junior Event Planners in proper execution and implementation of events.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail
  • Strong writing and communications skills
  • Knowledge of Cvent, Mailchimp, Google forms
  • Fast learner of new skills
  • Adaptive and versatile

Certifications and Licenses:
None.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting and standing for periods of time
  • Set up and attendance at all events

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Will require the individual to be in person at the SIEPR building on a regular basis
  • May require early morning, evening, and weekend work for events
  • May require overtime.

The expected pay range for this position is $76,000 to $100,000 per annum.
