Overview
The Demand Planning team is one of the most central functions within Capacity Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) due to its direct impact on Microsoft cloud business success. This team forecasts, plans and manages the majority of Microsoft's cloud services and directly influences cloud user experience. This is a central function that closely partners with Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Data Centers, New Product Introduction (NPI) and Deployment Engineering.
We are looking for a Sr. Demand Planner with partner management skills, insight and supply chain knowledge, and executive presence to transform the relationships with our partners from meeting their stated requirements to meeting their needs while optimizing the efficiency of our Cloud offering.

Responsibilities
This is a key role that leads plan development and engagement, while impacting customer capacity availability and the bottom-line cost for the Azure Business.
There are four key areas to this role:
  • Leveraging the usage forecast and translating it into hardware units with an optimal capacity plan across Azure workloads.
  • Engaging with Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) decisions to balance demand supply risks.
  • Engaging and partnering with a wide set of stakeholders including Software engineering, Finance, Supply Planning and Sourcing, and New Product Introduction teams to inform and influence, while delivering and balancing key measures such as plan accuracy, optimality, availability, and quality.

A successful candidate for this role will leverage their analytical, leadership, and communication skills to deliver innovative solutions that will transform the way our customers interact with our products.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary focal point with engineering and CSCP team for all thing's capacity. Develop technical insights into the product, customer value, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and margin drivers to make well balanced data driven decisions for the business. Providing a clear forecast and prioritized capacity plan to the end-to-end execution teams and optimizing the plan for availability, revenue and cost.
  • Partner with finance, execution, capacity management, software and hardware engineering teams to drive cluster decision to ensure right capacity is available in the right place at right time.
  • Operationalize and drive the Monthly Business Review (MBR) cadence for capacity planning Liaison with the hardware development organization to ensure Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) development and hardware roadmaps meet the business need by dates

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Quaifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 8+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Passionate about Cloud Computing and willing to dive into in-depth technical discussions.
  • Extensive Project Management experience managing the implementation of a medium to large Supply Chain Systems projects, including forecasting, demand planning, supply planning, purchasing / sourcing, warehousing / inventory management, transportation and distribution.
  • Experience in Demand planning and/or Supply chain management and good understanding of different supply chain models and being able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to effectively manage key stakeholders, resolve problems and seek practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in Enterprise Planning systems (such as SAP, Oracle, E2Open, etc.) and business intelligence engines (SQL, Power BI, Power Pivot, Tableau, etc.) are highly desired for this role.
  • A proven track record of growth and increasing responsibility, specifically in acquiring scope/leading areas in supply chain and capacity planning.
  • Hands-on leadership experience moving fluidly from long-term strategy to day-to-day tactical implementation.

Demand Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
