Job Description
- Assist in establishing data governance roles, responsibilities, and accountability structures within the organization.
- Help to educate and raise awareness among associates about data governance principles, policies, and practices through training programs and communication initiatives.
- Work cross-functional teams to assist embedding data governance processes into various data-related initiatives such as system implementations, data integration, data migration, and analytics projects.
- Help drive continuous improvement efforts in data governance technologies, practices, and processes to enhance data quality and integrity.
- Work with business to understand the business functions, processes, activities, and other related details.
- Partner with Business Units and Data Owners to identify data domains, entities, attributes, and associated business events and capture data management requirements, including data quality and governance.
- Document business processes, process flows, and other related details as well as systems functions and the associated Data Lineage in the Data Governance tool
- Provide training and assistance to the business users on how to use the documented information.
- Help implement the established data governance and data quality metrics and measure the progress of the Data Governance program.
- Support efforts to implement data classification and data categorization schemes to ensure proper handling and protection of sensitive data.
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement data governance tools and technologies, including data lineage, data profiling, and data quality tools.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports and presentations on data governance initiatives, progress, and compliance for executive management and other key stakeholders.
- Provide support to data stewards and data owners in their roles and responsibilities related to data governance.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and evolving regulatory requirements related to data governance and assist efforts to ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws.
- Assist in the extension of the Data Governance technology to accommodate 'Custom Objects and Definitions' not provided natively.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 5+ years hands-on experience as a Data Governance analyst having worked on documentation of Data Governance processes and related artifacts.
- In-depth knowledge of Data Governance concepts ad principles
- 2+ years hands-on experience with Collibra and MS Purview and all their capabilities and functionality
- In-depth knowledge of Data Management processes, practices, concepts, and principles including data modeling, data integration, data security, BI/Analytics, metadata management Experience with creating source-to-target data mapping documents
- Knowledge of various Data Modeling techniques
- Above average knowledge of SQL and at least 1 BI tool such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
- Excellent analytical capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to understand and document complex data governance requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to internal and external stakeholders.
