Petco is a category-defining health and wellness company focused on improving the lives of pets, pet parents and Petco partners. Position Purpose

The Senior, Petco Adworks Account Management, will lead sales and account management for Petco’s Retail Media Network (Petco AdWorks) with vendor partners both endemic and non-endemic to the pet industry. Senior, Petco Adworks Account Management will also manage, develop, and execute strategic category marketing initiatives that will position the Petco enterprise as the leading omnichannel pet company and to help pet parents create the best lives for their pets.

Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • SALES & ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT: Lead selling and account management for Petco’s Retail Media Network (Petco AdWorks) with vendor partners both endemic and non-endemic to the pet industry. Partner with the vendor to understand their objectives and develop and sell in plans that drive the vendor’s goals.

  • MARKETING STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT: Develop the Marketing Strategy based on business goals and objectives, key customer insights, and desired behavioral or emotional shifts from the customer. Work cross-functionally to develop marketing platform, define metrics, creative deliverables, optimal media mix, and messaging strategy to bring the initiatives to life

  • MARKETING PLANNING AND EXECUTION: Create integrated marketing and promotional plans to deliver on the strategy and partner with cross-functional teams to execute on time and on budget.

  • COMMS STRATEGY: Own annual communication strategy, define key messages and determine cadence that best aligns to consumer mindset. Define communication hierarchy and partner with cross-functional teams to implement it across channels for consistent messaging in market.

  • CREATIVE OVERSIGHT: Articulate creative deliverables and ensure they deliver against defined Marketing Strategy. Provide timely, thoughtful, and actionable feedback that inspires great work.

  • MEASUREMENT: Monitor campaign performance, report on key findings, and adjust plans accordingly to maximize spend and reach. Leverage data and end-of-season campaign reporting to inform future initiatives.

  • INNOVATION: Identify new opportunities through the use of customer insights, market research and competitive intelligence. Develop, direct, and ensure an integrated activation of the Marketing Strategy to maximize Petco’s sales, profits, engagement and loyalty.

  • BRAND VOICE: Ensure that Marketing communications and programs are consistent with Petco’s brand identity and voice.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong bias for action and relentless focus on increasing Petco’s speed to market.

  • Manage multiple large-scale initiatives, maintaining poise and professionalism in a fast-paced retail environment.

  • Lead without authority and bring cross-functional partners together to march towards a common goal.

  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests. Expertly tailor communication messages to different audiences.

  • Solid understanding of retail financials, media channels and their respective KPIs, and ability to interpret customer and market data to identify actionable insights.

  • Serve as marketing point of contact to all key stakeholders for respective categories.

  • Serve as subject matter expert on Petco Promotional Process (e.g., training, execution)

Nature of Supervision

Works closely with Director, Marketing. General direction is provided on some, but not all tasks. This manager must be independent, self-motivated and work to develop strategies and plans that will drive our business forward.

Planning and Problem Solving

Responsible for working with merchant leaders to develop and drive strategic business initiatives, product and service solutions, and customer benefits to create a differentiated and elevated experience for our customers. Provide strong leadership in executing the new promotional planning process across the Petco enterprise.

Strong leadership skills to build collaborative and strong relationships with proven success inspiring, engaging and motivating cross functional teams (with no authority over them) to execute key business initiatives.

Impact

Role has significant impact on the organization executing our category business and marketing strategies and key initiatives. Manages promotional planning. Partners with strategic vendors to ensure strategic partnerships are successfully executed and manages key vendor relationships to ensure alignment and integration across merchandising, operations, e-commerce and all marketing channels.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position may co-lead cross-functional teams over which it does not have direct authority.

Education/Experience

The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills. The ability to listen, synthesize, lead, explain and communicate at all levels will be critical.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and at least five years as a business, marketing or merchandising leader in a comparable sized organization or equivalent experience developing and executing strategic initiatives (e.g., management consultant) in a larger organization is required. Experience working with in-house creative teams and/or external advertising agencies. Experience presenting to executive-level leaders. This position is deadline intensive and requires the ability to gracefully and seamlessly handle multiple tasks and while simultaneously being highly visible.

Work Environment:

The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards. Some domestic travel to vendor offices, agencies, or conferences may be required.

Contacts:

Partnering with internal and external stakeholders such as merchants, MP&I, e-commerce and all marketing channels to develop, execute and manage marketing plans is frequent and may range anywhere from the daily and routine exchange of information to negotiation and the resolution of moderate to complex problems.
