Hybrid: This position requires an employee to be on-site at a GM facility full-time most of the week to perform most effectively. The employee’s role also enables them to work off-site less frequently as needed on specific circumstances.
This position requires an employee to be onsite 3x (Tue.-Thur.) times per week.
Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) group supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. As a Software Test Engineer in Ultifi, you’ll be part of a dynamic agile team to test and continuously deliver app store and over-the-air (OTA) capabilities into hundreds of millions of vehicles per year. This critical role will be accountable for understanding requirements, writing/updating test cases, executing test cases, opening quality defects, triage support, troubleshooting customer feedback and provide innovative test solutions and SME support for features assigned within the defined agile program increments. You will be part of the agile scrum team that will design tests, execute, and automate for mobile, web and in-vehicle products/apps. You will have proficiency working in a DevOps, Continuous Testing, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery framework for the release of in-vehicle, mobile, web and other products/apps.
Additional Description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Work with Agile software methodology.
Develop test plans, procedures that comprehend app store and OTA requirements and functionalities and execute them in Ultifi vehicle system (infotainment, mobile, web etc.) with minimal direction of lead engineers.
Analyze defects, determine root cause, report them to the development team, test, perform peer reviews and verify closure.
Perform integration, bench/vehicle level testing. Capture and analyze data to resolve issues
Triage system level nonconformities, issues to the appropriate offending systems like module, app, back-office etc.
Document all anomalies, issues using existing documentation tools (ESIM/PRTS/ADO/RTC/Jira etc.)
Follow issue resolution from issue origination thru verification, closure, and monitoring.
Work with teams from multiple groups to meet project milestones
Provide, communicate, and support common best practices among Software Test community
The Software Test Engineer must be a quick learner, must be able to work efficiently and effectively, to identify defect and risk that should be addressed during development test and for release readiness.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related
2+ years of infotainment, mobile or Software Testing experience
Understanding of Vehicle Electrical Architecture and Subsystem/Features in the Infotainment domain
Understanding of Infotainment and vehicle Operating Systems
Strong background with testing tools. (RQM, MSOffice Suite, ADO, TFS etc.)
Experience with test case authoring.
Experience with Agile Software Development Life Cycle and Process workflow.
Proven expertise using software tools to collect logs and configure modules, such as NeoVI Fire, JMB Tools, ATT, and DPS
A self-motivated individual who takes initiative in a constantly changing working environment
Ability to clearly connect with team, colleagues, and all levels of leadership
Valid US Driver's License and ability to operate a motor vehicle
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Engineering or Information Technology
Experience in software validation.
4+ years of experience testing software in vehicle, infotainment, mobile or web.
Previous test experience with automotive diagnostic, real-time or embedded applications
Good operating system knowledge of Android, QNX, Linux
Build and implement Vehicle Spy scripts to trigger appropriate vehicle signals.
Knowledge of vehicle, infotainment and mobile systems
Knowledge of testing automation / experience in test-case automation
Experience with wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Cellular) systems.
Experience with unit testing tools. (i.e. Charles Proxy, Vehicle Spy)
Hands-on experience with ECU programming, calibrating, and configuring.
Demonstrated experience with tools like Cucumber to support behavior driven development (BDD)
High levels of demonstrated communication, presentation skills, exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles to work across teams
