The role
The Software Engineering Services (SES) function is seeking a passionate manager to lead our SES team in Dallas, as well as support the ambitious global growth plans of G-Research.
SES currently manages more than 350 discreet technology solutions, covering many disciplines along the software development lifecycle, as well as a diverse portfolio of products that underpin the developer experience; from DevOps through to Security and IAM.
Alongside leadership of the local team in Dallas, the SES manager will be responsible for the operational running of all the production tools, systems and processes, especially outside of core London hours.
You will work in close partnership with other engineering functions, including Infrastructure, Middleware and Compute Platforms, to continue to build out our on-premises cloud solution based on best-in-class cloud technologies.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Leading the out of London office hours support and operations of our 350+ solutions, as well as the SES group in Dallas
- Establishing and running an effective hiring and on-boarding process for the Dallas office
- Providing local coordination of the group and engagement with users and customers across the global company
- Gaining exposure to, and understanding of, how we develop, deploy and maintain our current solutions using GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles in a self-service, pipeline-driven fashion
- Working with the Engineering and Operational teams to explore new tooling and automation to further enhance both the customer and operational user experience
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- The ability to work with users across different business areas, experiences and cultures to drive towards the best outcome for the organisation
- A solid track record of effectively managing highly skilled resources across multiple initiatives
- Experience of investing in and growing peoples' careers, skills and experiences in order to achieve iteratively improving results
- Experience running large scale operations in high pressure environments
- Knowledge of how to design and implement operational processes and practices in medium/large organisations
- A strong desire to continually learn about technologies and approaches, along with the agility to work across multiple disciplines
The following skills and experience is beneficial but not essential:
- Experience working in large compute environments
- Use of operational tools and practices covering monitoring and logging, such as ELK, Prometheus and Grafana
- Experience in hiring and on-boarding highly skilled staff to new teams and environments
- Exposure to Cloud technologies
